Aircraft noise monitoring systems at Lima airport

Lima International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez) is the most important airport with about 200,000 flight movements and over 22 million passengers. The runway of the capital airport is located in the northern area directly on the Pacific Ocean, but in the southern area only 10 km from the city center.
For permanent noise monitoring, an aircraft noise and flight track monitoring System was installed in a multi-stage project. Around the airport, five fixed and two mobile measuring stations were put into operation at selected locations. These stations are equipped in weatherproof cabinets with laboratory-tested acoustic measurement technology and permanently send the measured noise data to a central server. Appropriately dimensioned and integrated solar modules ensure sufficient power supply for all measuring stations.
The special feature of the project is the installation of two local ADS-B receiver modules for the detection of aircraft positions and generation of flight tracks. With this flight information, almost all air traffic in the airspace can be mapped. This data is used to correlate with measured noise data and thus to identify the "polluter".
